How to track inventory

Build an inventory list with quantities, cost and retail value, flag low stock automatically, and export it to Excel or CSV.

  1. Open the Inventory Tracker and add each item with its quantity, cost and retail price.
  2. Set the level at which an item should be flagged as low on stock.
  3. Export the list as an Excel (.xlsx) or CSV file.

Common questions

Is my stock data stored on a server?

Only if you save it. Everything is calculated in your browser; Save to My Library stores the stock list against your account so you can come back to it. Without that, export the file when you finish — that download is your record.

What is the difference between cost and retail value?

Cost is what you paid for the stock and is what it is worth on your books. Retail value is what you hope to sell it for. Valuing stock at retail overstates what you actually hold.

Can I open the export in Google Sheets?

Yes. Both the Excel and the CSV export open in Sheets, Excel and LibreOffice.
